In our The Outer Worlds: Murder on Eridanos review content, we take a look at the old-style detective research package in a touristic corner of space.
The Outer Worlds: Murder on EridanosObsidian’s latest DLC pack for the hit RPG game The Outer Worlds. Unlike the more combat-heavy Peril on Gorgon, the second add-on Murder on Eridanos stands out with its skill and dialogue-based structure. Let’s examine the game that turns into a full detective story according to your choices.
The Outer Worlds: Murder on Eridanos incelemesi
The story of Murder on Eridanos begins as we sail in our trusty ship “Unreliable”. Halcyon Helen, known and loved on almost all planets, is killed just before the launch of Rizzo’s upcoming product. Upon a request that came immediately after receiving the news, we go to Eridanos and try to solve the murder and find the source of the strange events.
The Unexpected Death of the Famous Star
When we come to Eridanos, due to the untimely departure of the previous guest, the most beautiful room of the hotel is allocated to us and our team. We are trying to solve the murder with our suspect list and our device that detects inconsistencies in Eridanos, which consists of rockets with bottom pushing rockets and interconnected islands in the air.
There are various types on the suspect list, such as an obsessive fan, ex-girlfriend, a once star and now a star in the secondary. To find the killer, we must talk to each suspect and get an opinion on them. Each of the suspects is located in different corners of Eridanos and we encounter a lot of interesting events on the way we pass to reach them. It is possible to encounter many things such as overly positive workers crawling around with bugs on their neck, a robot trying to “milk” wild animals, a more dangerous maze, and the mysterious killer who is one step ahead of us, killing the people we will talk to.
Each of the characters we have encountered throughout the story has been unique and memorable. Every suspect we talk to has certain reasons, and each of them acts to make them say, “This could be the murderer.” In fact, some suspects like the “Prophet of Profit” think that when you have both the necessary reasons and the opportunity, one inevitably solves the incident. At the end of every research we do in the game, we report our findings and ensure that the suspect is imprisoned until the decision is made. We do not touch those who are absolutely innocent when we put what we say “This may be the killer” in jail. Although most of the choices we make have minor effects, towards the end we begin to make decisions that will change the course of the story.
I don’t want to give more information about the story. Thanks to the information we gathered with our auxiliary device called “Discrepancy Amplifier” and what we learned from the people around, something new happens and things change again when we say “I have solved the incident”. I have some discomfort with the part of the story, I think it could have been better, but it is beautiful even in this form.
Also in the environment there are a lot of side quests we can do. An advantage is that side missions are not boring fetch missions. I spent 11 hours on normal difficulty, doing some of the side missions to the game. Considering the replayability of the story in different ways and the price of the DLC, it gets a high score in terms of the story.
A Life Passed On Long Bridges
Murder on Eridanos passes completely over Eridanos. There are no tasks we need to go out of the system and tackle on different planets. I am not sure if it is correct to call Eridanos a planet though. A place built on huge boulders that are suspended in the air by propulsion rockets and connected to each other by bridges. Thanks to our private room, we do not even have to go to the ship. The planet, where the beverage company Rizzo develops its own products and makes them ready for consumption, also hosts the dubious company employees called SLUG.
We can reach different regions through bridges. These regions have different purposes such as delivery area, production area, research area and wild area. We need to find and question a suspect in each area. Each region is home to its own order and dangerous enemies. While looking for the area where the victim had a picnic, we were suddenly attacked by wild bee-flies and came across problems where SLUG and Rizzo employees blame each other.
There are no big changes in the gameplay part of the game. There are a couple of new weapons and armor, but don’t expect too much. The real shine of this add-on package is in the unarmed areas. Solving problems is very enjoyable with a character who has a high level of persuasion and attaches importance to science and confidentiality. Our research device, which has an artificial intelligence, congratulates us after the correct observations we made. With this device, we can follow footprints, examine corpses, analyze suspicious substances and have them take us to the source. It has the ability to shoot, but it can be. My biggest problem with the device is that it always repeats the same thing sometimes. We’re on the trail, at least if you had added a few different comments.
We can pretend to be a “good cop – bad cop” with Parvati to get more talk from the suspect we question. There is even the option of “squeeze those 1000 credits into your pocket” when the words are insufficient. When the systems that keep the rocks on the air are in trouble, we can repair it ourselves or we can actually find and convince the person who needs to do this job. Murder on Eridanos has a gameplay that makes full use of our character’s abilities.
We are in a huge area built on rock fragments connected to each other by bridges. Here is the most annoying part of the game. Bridges! The atmosphere is very nice, the first time you pass the bridge, the tension you experience when you look below is reflected very well. The distance between the regions is also long, it takes an average of 15 seconds to cross from one bridge to another. Although interesting for the first few times, the bridges’ interestingness ends very quickly. There is a fast travel option but I wish the bridges could be made a little more interesting. Since there is no fast travel at high difficulty levels, I pulled the difficulty level down after the first bridge. Despite this, I’m tired of bridges, I don’t know what those who play at a difficult level live.
With the package, our character’s level limit also increases. In order to enter the DLC, we have to reach a certain point in the main story. Still, if you intend to come here without going too far in the main story, I would say be careful. The game is tailored for high-level characters, and low-level characters may have trouble because of their abilities.
The Outer Worlds: Murder on Eridanos has done a great job as an add-on package. In the Peril on Gorgon review content I said, “I really liked the idea of a detective story.” This time, it takes the incident one step further and allows us to see our character as a detective. In the story, talent and dialogues are more prominent than weapons, conspiracies are quickly revealed, and when the story is over, you leave with a sense of satisfaction according to your preference.
If you enjoyed The Outer Worlds game, don’t miss Murder on Eridanos. An interesting and exciting story from start to finish, a gameplay in which you show all your character’s abilities, and the opportunity to affect the result with your choices is not a feature that is too much these days. we can see. Although “Discrepancy Amplifier” can be seen as a new companion in a way. If you haven’t liked The Outer Worlds gameplay before, don’t expect this pack to work miracles.
Finally, I want to talk about the price of the game. As someone who plays The Outer Worlds on PC, I have the main game via Epic Games and naturally I get the DLC packages from there. DLC packages on Epic Games separately with a price tag of 69 TL while sellingExpansion Pass, which includes two packages, can be purchased for 91 TL at a discount. With The Outer Worlds coming to Steam in October, users can choose this place as well. On the Steam side, there is a difference in DLC price. While the first DLC pack had a price tag of 69 TL, Murder on Eridanos sale price It was determined as 109 TL. The Expansion Pass, which includes two packages, is also sold here at a discount of 91 TL. I do not know the reason for the price difference, but the game definitely gives the right to the price of 69 TL. I advise those who want to buy it on Steam to purchase the Expansion Pass directly. I do not know why they put a price of 109 TL on the plug-in, which is included in a package with a price of 114 TL without a discount.
