AMD Radeon RX 6000M Series mobile graphics processors announced

AMD Radeon RX 6000M Series mobile graphics processors perform up to 1.5 times higher than the previous generation.

At Computex 2021, AMD introduced several powerful new solutions that will take high-performance gaming to the next level. Announced the new AMD Radeon™ RX 6000M Series mobile graphics processors to deliver world-class performance, stunning visuals and immersive experiences to gaming laptops. The Radeon RX 6800M is the fastest AMD Radeon GPU for laptops, enabling ultra-high-speed 1440p games.

As a result of working with PC manufacturers for several years, AMD has also announced the AMD Advantage Design Engine for next-generation high-end and high-performance gaming laptops. Combining AMD Radeon RX 6000M Series mobile graphics processors, AMD Radeon Software and AMD Ryzen 5000 Series mobile processors with exclusive AMD smart technologies and advanced system design features, these new AMD Advantage systems are designed for best-in-class gaming experiences. The first samples of AMD Advantage laptops are expected to go on sale this month.

Along with this, AMD also announced AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) technology, a resolution upscaling technology. With the new technology, the number of frames per second can be increased up to 2.5 times in 4K resolution in selected games.

More than 10 game developers are expected to add FSR to major games and game engines in 2021, while the first games that support FSR will be released towards the end of this month.

AMD Radeon RX 6000M Series Mobile Graphics

AMD Radeon RX 6000M Series mobile graphics processors are built on the latest AMD RDNA gaming architecture. It offers up to 1.5x higher performance and up to 43 percent lower power consumption at the same performance level compared to AMD RDNA architecture. It also brings advanced technologies such as AMD Infinity Cache and DirectX Raytracing (DXR) to next-generation laptops.

The AMD Radeon RX 6800M has graphics power that delivers world-class 1440p/120FPS performance, top-notch 1440p/120FPS performance combined with lifelike raytracing and traditional effects. AMD Radeon RX 6700M, on the other hand, provides 1440p/100 FPS gaming performance, new levels of visuality and efficiency in next-generation advanced gaming and content creation laptops. AMD Radeon RX 6600M brings high refresh rate 1080p/100 FPS gaming performance to lightweight notebooks. Radeon RX 6000M series mobile graphics processors also provide gamers with multiple technologies:

  • AMD Infinity Cache – Up to 96MB of state-of-the-art data buffering on the GPU reduces latency and power consumption, delivering higher gaming performance over traditional architecture designs.
  • AMD Smart Access Memory – Enables high performance by providing access to the AMD Ryzen processor, high-speed AMD Radeon GDDR6 graphics memory on select AMD powered laptops.
  • AMD SmartShift Technology – Provides an additional boost in gaming performance by dynamically shifting the notebook’s power between the AMD Ryzen Mobile processor and the AMD Radeon graphics processor.
  • AMD Radeon Chill – A power saving feature that saves battery life by adjusting frame rates based on in-game activity.
  • AMD FidelityFX – Supported by over 45 games, AMD FidelityFX is an open source visual enhancement effects toolkit available to game developers via AMD GPUOpen. It can also be added to the latest games with minimal impact to performance, thanks to the new AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution technology, along with extensive lighting, shading and reflection effects.

AMD Advantage Design Infrastructure

With the new AMD Advantage Design Engine, AMD and its global partners are redefining high-performance mobile gaming. AMD Advantage laptops combine AMD Radeon RX 6000M series mobile graphics processors, AMD Radeon Software and AMD Ryzen 5000 Series mobile processors with AMD technologies, AMD FreeSync Premium certified panels, fast NVMe storage, thermal designs and other advanced system design characteristics.

AMD Advantage laptops are designed to deliver best-in-class gaming experiences, next-level performance and speed. Improvements brought by AMD SmartShift and AMD Smart Access Memory also accelerate the performance of these systems. However, AMD Advantage laptops offer over 100 FPS performance in today’s most visually demanding games, all-day battery video playback (10+ hours), 144Hz high refresh rate, vibrant brightness (300+ nits) displays, custom-tuned thermal combines design in an elegant design.

Multiple AMD Advantage gaming laptops are expected to go on sale in 2021. Laptops with AMD Radeon RX 6800M graphics processor, AMD Ryzen 5900HX Mobile processor and ROG Strix G15/17 AMD Advantage Edition players with AMD smart technologies will be available in June. OMEN 16 laptops with AMD Radeon RX 6600M graphics processor, AMD Ryzen 9 5900HZ Mobile processor and AMD smart technologies will also be available soon. Lenovo and MSI’s AMD Advantage laptops are also expected to hit the market later this year.

AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution

AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) offers broad support for more than 100 AMD processors and graphics processors as well as competitive GPUs. FSR allows gamers to adjust the balance between visual quality and performance according to their preferences, making it possible for them to have high-performance and visually stunning gaming experiences, even with features such as the most visually challenging Ray Tracing. Thanks to FSR, it provides 2.5 times higher performance with the “Performance” mode in selected games compared to the native game resolution.

Because FSR is an open source solution based on industry standards, it’s much easier for developers to add this technology to new and existing games. More information on FSR and supported games will be announced on June 22.
